Trainee Estimator / Estimator – Bedford A leading flooring subcontractor in Bedford has an opportunity for a Trainee Estimator or Estimator to join their commercial team. They are financially strong, expanding, and known for exceptional quality and service. This is a great role for someone who wants to learn, progress and grow in a fast-paced commercial environment. You will be joining a team of six, consisting of two Business Development Managers and four Estimators. Hybrid working is available after a training period. They work with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Contractors and have a strong presence across London and the Home Counties. The commercial team enjoys a great working environment with plenty of experience, support, banter and regular social activities. Everyone gets along well, and there is always lots happening socially. Projects typically range between £5,000 and £2,000,000. The Role – Trainee Estimator / Estimator This is a full-time, office-based role with regular site visits. You will assist with and develop skills in: * Reviewing drawings and specifications * Quantity take-offs * Preparing estimates and costings * Pricing bills of quantities and producing lump-sum tenders * Supplier and subcontractor enquiries * Comparing quotations and supporting procurement * Assisting with tender submissions * Supporting contract administration and commercial reporting * Carrying out site surveys 1–2 times per week * Working on projects requiring security clearance You will typically manage 7–8 live tenders at any one time, valued between £50,000 and £1.5m. This role is suitable for: * Trainees * Candidates looking for a career change * Experienced Estimators The Right Person – Trainee Estimator / Estimator * 5 GCSEs including a C in Maths * Must be able to drive * Good attention to detail * Able to juggle multiple tenders and deadlines in a high-pressure environment * Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel * Strong organisational and communication skills * Able to work independently and within a team * Experience in negotiation is beneficial * Comfortable working on security-cleared projects (training provided) Working Hours 8.30am – 5.00pm Hybrid working available after a training period.
