Health and Safety Manager Health and Safety Manager | Milton Keynes | Construction, Roofing & Facades Salary: Circa £70,000, depending on experience Benefits: Company car or car allowance, pension, 21 days’ holiday plus bank holidays and additional service-related leave Contract: Permanent, full-time A.D.S Construction Personnel Ltd are working with an established group of specialist contractors to recruit a Health and Safety Manager for their Milton Keynes head office. This is a senior, hands-on role covering health and safety, quality and compliance across three businesses operating in construction, roofing and facades. You will lead the function across the group, support live sites, take ownership of the quality management system and oversee PAS 2030 and ISO compliance. The group includes an £18 million roofing contractor with more than 70 years’ combined industry experience, a construction division turning over approximately £9–£10 million and a growing facades business delivering cladding, metal roofing and fire remediation projects. The facades division was launched 18 months ago and has plans to reach £30–£40 million turnover. You will be based in the Milton Keynes area, with regular travel to sites, and will work directly with the senior leadership team. This would suit an experienced Construction Health and Safety Manager who wants the authority to improve standards and shape the function rather than simply maintain existing systems. Salary and Benefits Circa £70,000 salary, depending on experience Company car or car allowance, depending on personal circumstances 21 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays One additional day of holiday per year after three years’ service, up to a maximum of five extra days Pension scheme Flexibility around outside commitments Company days out, Friday pub trips and company trips A senior position with direct access to the leadership team across three growing businesses Key Responsibilities Lead the health and safety function across the roofing, construction and facades businesses Take ownership of the quality management system and improve processes across the group Plan and manage the implementation of PAS 2030 Maintain the group’s three ISO accreditations and prepare the businesses for twice-yearly external audits Develop and implement practical health and safety policies, procedures and working practices Provide visible, hands-on support across live construction, roofing and facades sites Complete site inspections, audits and risk assessments, working with project teams to address issues promptly Deliver training, toolbox talks and workforce briefings Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, then make sure lessons learned are put into practice Keep senior leadership informed of regulatory changes, compliance risks and areas requiring action Support the continued growth of the facades division by establishing strong health and safety standards as it expands What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager, HSEQ Manager or SHEQ Manager within construction, roofing, facades or a related sector NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent health and safety qualification Strong knowledge of construction health and safety legislation, site compliance, risk assessments and safe systems of work Experience managing quality systems, ISO accreditations and external audits A practical, site-focused approach and the confidence to lead the function across several businesses Working knowledge of PAS 2030; implementation experience would be a strong advantage IOSH membership or similar professional membership would be beneficial Roofing, cladding, facades or fire remediation experience would be useful but is not essential Knowledge of the Building Safety Act would be an advantage Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with directors, site teams, clients and external auditors Full UK driving licence Based within a reasonable commute of Milton Keynes Why Join?
