We're working with an established manufacturing business that is looking to appoint a Purchasing Co-ordinator to join its procurement team.
This is a genuine entry-level opportunity for someone who is early in their career, looking to take their first step into procurement, or keen to kick-start a career within purchasing and supply chain.
You'll receive exposure to a broad range of purchasing activities, working alongside an experienced procurement team and gaining valuable experience in supplier management, purchase orders, reporting and commercial activity.
The role
You'll support the day-to-day running of the purchasing function, helping to make sure orders are raised accurately, suppliers deliver on time and any potential issues are identified and communicated before they impact the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
Raising, amending and managing purchase orders through to completion
Monitoring supplier deliveries and lead times and chasing orders where required
Liaising with suppliers and internal teams to ensure purchasing requirements are met
Supporting the procurement of indirect goods and services
Assisting with supplier and contract administration
Supporting supplier performance monitoring and scorecards
Producing purchasing and month-end reports
Maintaining accurate procurement records and systems
Supporting quotation and information-gathering exercises
Helping identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and achieve better value
Working closely with the Purchasing Manager and wider business
Providing general support to the procurement team as required
Who we're looking for
You don't need to have a background in procurement to be successful in this role.
We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable, commercially curious and keen to learn. Perhaps you're just starting your career, have some administration or supply chain experience, or you're looking for an opportunity to move into procurement for the first time.
What matters most is your attitude, attention to detail and willingness to develop.
You'll need to be:
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Accurate and comfortable working with information and data
Confident communicating with people both internally and externally
Proactive and willing to take responsibility
Commercially curious and interested in how businesses buy goods and services
Comfortable working to deadlines and managing competing priorities
A good team player who is flexible and willing to get involved
Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
Keen to learn and develop a career within purchasing and procurementAny previous experience in administration, customer service, supply chain, logistics, buying or a commercial environment would be useful, but it is not essential.
