Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager - MOD Commercial Build Reading | Permanent Up to £95k (SQS) / Up to £108k (CM) + Benefits Security Clearance: SC Clearance required (or eligibility to obtain) Our client, a leading main contractor, is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor - or a Commercial Manager for the right candidate - to join their team on a commercial build project for the Ministry of Defence. You'll take ownership of commercial management on a high-profile MOD project, working closely with the operational team to protect and maximise contractual entitlements. Depending on experience, this role could suit someone ready to step up into a Commercial Manager position. Key Responsibilities Promote a safety-first culture across all project activities Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and company processes, including MOD-specific security and site protocols Understand contract terms and manage commercial risks and opportunities Maintain accurate records to support contractual entitlements Prepare and submit applications, securing payment and variations Manage subcontract accounts through to final account Monitor progress and provide accurate commercial reporting Support negotiation and settlement of the final account with the client For CM-level candidates: broader oversight of the commercial team and project commercial strategyWhat We're Looking For Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within commercial/construction build environments Experience working on MOD or other secure/government projects is highly advantageous Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, SC Clearance Degree/HNC level qualification and/or significant relevant experience Experience managing change and subcontract accounts Good working knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT/NEC) Candidates with Commercial Manager-level experience are encouraged to apply and will be considered for a higher packageSalary & Benefits Up to £95,000 basic salary (SQS) / Up to £108,000 (Commercial Manager) £300 per month car allowance (non-car, fixed) Travel allowance (details available from the hiring manager) Project bonus scheme (details available from the hiring manager) 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Pension with up to 8% employer contribution Private healthcare 24/7 employee assistance programme Flexible benefits and discounts Personal development programmeIf you're interested, contact Client Services Manager & Team Lead at Smart4EPC, Jade Ferreira, , (phone number removed)
