Electrical Maintenance Technician – Monday to Friday DaysLocation: Barnsley Salary: £48000 Job Type: Permanent Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm Industry: Manufacturing / Engineering Electrical Maintenance Technician – BarnsleyWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join a busy manufacturing site in Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Maintenance Engineer / Electrical Maintenance Engineer looking to develop their career within a fast-paced, modern production environment. Working as part of a dedicated maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and fault-finding on a wide range of production machinery and plant equipment. You will play a key role in reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability and ensuring production continues to operate safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys diagnosing faults, solving technical problems and working proactively to keep machinery running. Key Responsibilities Carry out electrical maintenance and repairs on production machinery, plant and equipment Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise breakdowns and production downtime Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults quickly and effectively Fault find on mechanical systems, including gearboxes and associated equipment Work with and understand pneumatic and hydraulic systems and circuits Liaise effectively with on-site contractors and remote service engineers Use a CMMS maintenance system to accurately record maintenance activities, breakdowns and completed work Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of critical engineering spare parts Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives Provide guidance and mentor apprentices within the maintenance team Work independently and use initiative when responding to breakdowns and technical issues Support the wider engineering team with overtime when required RequirementsTo be considered for this Electrical Maintenance Technician position, you will need: A relevant NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Maintenance, Engineering or a related discipline A minimum of 4 years' industrial maintenance experience Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Technician or Engineering Technician Experience working within a manufacturing, production or industrial engineering environment Strong electrical maintenance and fault-finding skills Good understanding of mechanical maintenance and machinery Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance Experience using CMMS / computerised maintenance management systems Ability to diagnose breakdowns efficiently and minimise production downtime Good communication skills and the ability to work with contractors and external engineers Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and use your own initiative Flexibility to work overtime when required to support production Working HoursMonday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm This is a days-based maintenance position, offering a consistent Monday-to-Friday working pattern within an established manufacturing environment.
