Cover Supervisor – Long-Term Position Location: Newham, East London Contract: Long-term, full-time Start Date: ASAP / September 2026 Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Are you an enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisor looking for a long-term opportunity in a supportive secondary school in Newham? We are currently seeking a confident and motivated Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming school community. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about supporting students to achieve their full potential. The Role As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of their regular teacher, ensuring students remain focused and engaged with their learning. Your responsibilities will include: * Supervising lessons across a range of subjects and year groups * Delivering pre-prepared work and ensuring students remain on task * Maintaining a positive and well-managed classroom environment * Supporting students with their learning where appropriate * Managing behaviour in line with the school's policies * Reporting any issues or concerns to relevant members of staff * Building positive relationships with students and staff * Supporting the wider school community when required The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be: * Confident, professional and reliable * An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills * Able to establish positive relationships with students * Calm and consistent when managing behaviour * Organised and able to work independently * Passionate about education and supporting young people * Experienced in a school or education setting (desirable, but not essential) This role would suit an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, graduate considering a career in teaching, or someone with relevant experience working with young people.
