Our client is a small but growing UK manufacturer in the metals industry, supplying some of the most demanding industries in the world — defence, telecoms, marine and general engineering. You won't just be putting together quotes — you'll own the whole journey from enquiry through to order and delivery: * Reviewing customer enquiries and technical specifications, working out material, process and testing requirements * Estimating and costing jobs, sourcing material from suppliers where needed * Preparing and issuing quotations, negotiating where required and processing orders through to delivery * Building close working relationships with the production team to make sure what's quoted can be made, on time and to spec * Acting as a key point of contact for customers — this is customer service and technical support as much as it is estimating About you * Come from a manufacturing or engineering background — ideally from a smaller, subcontract or precision engineering environment where you've had to wear more than one hat (estimating, technical, customer-facing) * Comfortable interpreting technical drawings, specifications and customer requirements * Methodical and precise: small errors here can have real consequences once something reaches the shop floor * Confident communicating with both customers and internal production teams * Happy to be based on-site, with occasional customer visits (mileage paid) If you've been the person at a smaller manufacturing business who ends up doing a bit of everything from estimating, quoting, chasing suppliers to keeping customers happy, this could be a natural next step.
