General Teaching Assistant – Year 1 – Gloucester Location: Gloucester Year Group: Year 1 / KS1 Position: General Teaching Assistant Pay: £92.56 – £110 per day PAYE Start Date: ASAP Agency: Distinction Education Ltd General Teaching Assistant – Year 1 Distinction Education is looking for an enthusiastic and caring General Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Gloucester, working within a Year 1 class. This is a general classroom-based Teaching Assistant position, supporting the class teacher and helping children make positive progress across the curriculum. As a Year 1 Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting children as they develop their confidence and independence within Key Stage 1. What Will You Be Doing? Your responsibilities as a General Teaching Assistant will include: * Supporting the Year 1 teacher with day-to-day classroom activities * Working with individual pupils and small groups * Supporting early reading, phonics, writing and maths * Helping children remain engaged with their learning * Providing additional support to pupils who require extra help * Encouraging confidence and independence * Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines * Helping to create a welcoming and engaging learning environment Who Are We Looking For? Ideally, you will have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school, particularly within KS1 or Year 1. However, previous school experience is desirable rather than essential. We are also keen to hear from candidates who have strong experience working with children in other settings, including: * Nurseries and childcare settings * Youth clubs and children's organisations * Children's residential settings * Sports coaching * Tutoring * Holiday clubs * Care or support roles involving children and young people * Other child-focused organisations If you have genuine experience working with children and would like to transfer those skills into a primary school Teaching Assistant role, we would encourage you to apply.
