WORKSHOP TECHNICIAN THORNBURY BRISTOL SALARY NEGOTIABLE Working hours will be between 08:00 am to 05:00 pm, plus over time, and salary will be discussed at the time of interview We are seeking a skilled and motivated HGV Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Technician to join our growing maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of a fleet of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, roadworthy, and compliant with all relevant regulations. Key Responsibilities Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailers. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults. Perform MOT preparation and ensure vehicles meet legal compliance standards. Complete vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance schedules. Respond to vehicle breakdowns and emergency repairs when required. Maintain accurate service and repair records. Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures. Work collaboratively with drivers, transport managers, and other workshop staff. Requirements Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician, or Heavy Vehicle Technician. Relevant qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Level 2/3 NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent). Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills. Knowledge of DVSA standards and vehicle compliance requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential). Good communication and organisational skills
