Workshop Mechanic Location: Ellesmere Port Salary: £65,000 OTE Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm Job Type: Permanent The Role ZETEC Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Workshop Mechanic / HGV Mechanic to join an established operation based in Ellesmere Port. This is a permanent position offering £65,000 OTE, regular overtime, call-out payments, bonuses and clear opportunities for progression. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs and trailers, ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable and compliant. Duties * Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers * Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently * Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure DVSA compliance * Complete inspections and safety checks * Attend occasional breakdown call-outs * Travel to satellite depots in Liverpool and Sandbach when required * Maintain accurate workshop records and defect reports * Ensure all work is completed safely and to company standards Overtime & Call-Out Regular overtime is available depending on workload, typically providing an additional 5–10 hours per week. Overtime opportunities can include: * Early starts * Additional hours after the standard shift * Weekend overtime * Breakdown and call-out work The role also operates on an on-call rota, with enhanced payments for call-outs and a pool vehicle provided to take home when on call. Experience & Qualifications Required: * Minimum 5 years' workshop experience * Minimum 2 years' time-served experience as an HGV Mechanic * Relevant HGV or mechanical qualifications * Clean driving licence with no current disqualifications * Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn Desirable: * Class 2 Category C licence * Welding and fabrication experience Candidates will need to provide their own standard hand tools. All specialist tools and equipment will be provided.
