You'll spend the majority of your time on the tools, delivering building fabric works across the South West to the standard your team should be aiming for. Alongside your hands-on work, you'll lead a team of 4–10 field engineers, providing technical and personal support while managing their performance and workload. Your responsibilities as a Field Supervisor will include: * Leading and supporting a team of field engineers across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset * Running regular 1-2-1s and performance plans * Monitoring KPIs and recoverable hours * Providing technical support and guidance to engineers * Supporting your team with their personal and professional development * Carrying out some supervisor responsibilities remotely where engineers are working across the wider South West * Estimating works, including preparing full scopes of work and materials * Carrying out site audits and surveys * Delivering toolbox talks * Conducting QHSE reviews * Ensuring the out-of-hours rota is covered * Acting as a key link between Sherwoods and its clients * Keeping works booked in and ensuring site access is arranged * Providing clients with clear updates on progress * Working within a reactive maintenance environment where no two weeks are the same A home location close to Exeter would be ideal, as your team will be working across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. Requirements We're looking for an experienced Field Supervisor / Building Fabric Supervisor who is comfortable combining hands-on technical work with people management. You'll need: ● To be a time-served carpenter ● Experience as a multi-skilled fabric engineer ● Previous experience supervising a remote or field-based team ● Experience within the facilities maintenance sector ● Experience compiling specifications and workflows ● Strong technical knowledge of building fabric maintenance ● Confidence managing performance and having honest conversations with team members ● The ability to remain calm under pressure and take initiative ● Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a range of people ● GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or equivalent ● A full UK driving licence ● The ability to pass an enhanced DBS check, as some of our sectors involve close contact with vulnerable or young people Desirable experience and qualifications The following would be welcomed but are not essential: ● NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 Carpentry ● IOSH qualification ● Project management experience ● Previous experience in a Field Supervisor, Building Fabric Supervisor or similar supervisory role What happens next?
