SEN Teaching Assistant Hours: Monday – Friday, Full-Time, Term-Time Only Location: Edmonton Start Date: ASAP UES1 About the Role We are looking for a caring, patient and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Edmonton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and wants to make a meaningful difference to their education and wellbeing. You will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to provide personalised support, helping pupils access their learning, develop independence and build positive relationships. Pupils may have a range of learning, communication, sensory and behavioural needs. Key Responsibilities * Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN * Support pupils to access differentiated and personalised learning * Assist with communication, social and emotional development * Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation * Support pupils with sensory and communication needs * Assist with personal care where required * Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils * Implement individual learning and support plans * Encourage independence, confidence and engagement * Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team * Monitor and communicate pupil progress and wellbeing * Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times What We’re Looking For Essential: * Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN * Patient, caring and resilient approach * Confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs * Strong communication and teamwork skills * Ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting challenging situations * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service * Right to Work in the UK Desirable: * Previous experience within a specialist SEN school * Experience supporting pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD or PMLD * Experience with personal care * Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC or sensory strategies * Manual handling / moving and handling training * Experience supporting pupils with complex communication or behavioural needs What This Role Offers * ASAP / September start available * Full-time, Monday – Friday position * Specialist SEN school environment * Supportive teaching and wider SEN team
