SEN Teaching Assistant - SEMH Location: Croydon, London Salary: £93 - £105 per day, depending on qualifications and experience. Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary Start date: 19/10/2026 Hours: Term time, 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday. Can you offer a steady, encouraging presence when a pupil is finding school difficult? Transparency Education is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant in Croydon to support social, emotional and mental health needs. You will help children engage with learning, practise regulation strategies and develop positive relationships. The role needs patience, professional boundaries and the ability to recognise progress even when it comes in small steps. Responsibilities • Provide classroom, one-to-one and small-group support as directed • Use agreed strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour • Prepare pupils for transitions and less structured parts of the day • Help pupils re-engage with learning following difficulties • Keep factual records and work consistently with teaching and pastoral staff Requirements • Experience supporting SEMH, emotional wellbeing or behavioural needs • A calm and resilient approach to challenging situations • Clear communication and confidence following behaviour support plans • Relevant school, care, mentoring or youth-work experience • An enhanced DBS check appropriate to the role, or willingness to complete one.
