Housekeeping and Waste Management Operative Radstock Competitive Salary Permanent, Part Time Working Hours:20 hours a week (12:00-16:00 Monday - Friday) About the role We are looking for a Housekeeping & Waste Management Operative to join our team and take ownership of housekeeping and waste management across our site. This is a hands-on role where you will play an important part in maintaining a clean, safe, tidy and efficient working environment across our production areas, external yards and waste storage areas. You will work largely independently, organising your day-to-day activities while responding to any priority housekeeping requirements as they arise. The role would suit someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards, has a practical approach to their work and is confident working safely and independently. What you'll be doing * Managing the day-to-day handling of site waste, including cardboard, plastics, general waste and recycling. * Ensuring waste is correctly segregated, labelled and stored ready for collection or disposal. * Operating waste-handling equipment such as balers and compactors safely and in line with site procedures. * Supporting and liaising with recycling and waste contractors during scheduled collections. * Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across production areas, shared spaces, external yards and waste storage areas. * Cleaning plant and equipment during agreed downtime periods and following the appropriate safe working procedures. * Identifying and reporting hazards, spillages, damaged containers, waste contamination and other unsafe conditions. * Moving waste and materials safely using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment. * Reporting near misses and helping to promote a safe, tidy and environmentally responsible workplace. * Supporting wider site cleaning and housekeeping activities where required. * Providing additional support, including occasional additional hours, where agreed to cover holidays or operational requirements. About you We're looking for someone who: * Has a practical, hands-on approach to their work. * Takes pride in maintaining a clean and organised working environment. * Understands the importance of health and safety, housekeeping and waste segregation. * Can work independently and organise their own workload. * Has good attention to detail and consistently maintains high standards. * Is comfortable communicating with colleagues, contractors and other members of the site team. * Understands safe manual handling practices. * Is proactive in identifying hazards and resolving or reporting issues. * Has a valid counterbalance forklift licence, or is willing and able to complete the necessary training to obtain one. Previous experience in a housekeeping, waste management, facilities, warehouse or manufacturing environment would be useful, but we're also interested in candidates with the right practical attitude and willingness to learn
