Environment We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a professional Facilities Management team supporting a large and complex estate in Smethwick. ⚡ This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Electrical Engineer with strong maintenance experience who is looking to work within a varied and technically demanding environment. 🏥 The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring electrical systems, equipment, plant and wider building services remain safe, reliable, compliant and operational. 🔧 The role will involve a combination of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics, repairs and minor installation works, while working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team. 🔧 Responsibilities & Duties • ⚡ Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a wide range of electrical systems and building services. • 🚨 Respond proactively to reactive maintenance requests, breakdowns and faults. • 🔍 Carry out electrical fault finding, diagnostics and effective repairs. • 🛠️ Maintain, inspect and repair electrical systems, equipment and associated building services. • 🔌 Undertake electrical maintenance activities within areas of competence and qualification. • 🏗️ Assist with minor installation, upgrading, modification and adaptation works. • 🧠 Work independently and use initiative when diagnosing faults and resolving maintenance issues. • 📋 Complete maintenance tasks within agreed timescales and to the required standard. • 🛡️ Work in accordance with statutory requirements, Health & Safety procedures, site requirements and safe systems of work. • 🦺 Correctly use PPE and follow relevant safety and infection control procedures where applicable. • 🪜 Safely operate access equipment, hand tools and power tools in accordance with manufacturers' instructions. • 📑 Complete risk assessments and follow RAMS, permits and other relevant safe working procedures. • 📝 Maintain accurate written and electronic maintenance records. • 💻 Update CAFM and other maintenance systems with accurate job information and completion details. • 🚨 Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues to minimise disruption to building operations. • 🤝 Liaise professionally with building users, departments, colleagues, contractors and other stakeholders. • 🏢 Ensure maintenance works are carried out with minimum disruption to occupants and building operations. • 📞 Participate in an out-of-hours on-call and emergency call-out rota when required. • ❄️ Participate in seasonal duties such as gritting and snow clearance where required. • 🚨 Respond to emergency recall-to-work requirements when required outside normal working hours. • 👨‍🔧 Work flexibly alongside other engineering disciplines as part of a multi-skilled Hard FM team. • 🎓 Undertake additional training to develop technical skills and maintain competency requirements. • 🔐 Work towards or maintain Competent Person / Authorised Person responsibilities where appropriately trained and authorised. • ⚡ Support the safe operation and maintenance of LV electrical systems and other electrical infrastructure. • 🔌 Where appropriately trained, support HV/LV Authorised Person activities and electrical isolations. • 📊 Identify recurring faults, maintenance issues and opportunities to improve reliability. • 📈 Contribute ideas and practical solutions to improve maintenance performance and service delivery. • 🗂️ Ensure all paperwork, job reports and technical documentation are completed accurately and on time. • ⏱️ Complete allocated work within agreed timeframes. • 🛠️ Undertake other reasonable duties relevant to the role and level of responsibility. 👨‍🔧 Requirements • ⚡ Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Technician or similar. • 🎓 Recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level. • 📘 City & Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 electrical qualification. • ⚡ 18th Edition Wiring Regulations – essential. • 🔧 AM2 – essential. • 🏢 Proven post-apprenticeship experience within a maintenance environment. • ⚡ Strong practical experience within an electrical maintenance environment. • 🛠️ Proven experience carrying out both PPM and reactive maintenance. • 🔍 Strong electrical fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills. • 🏢 Experience working within Facilities Management, Building Services, Commercial or a similar complex environment. • 🏥 Previous experience within a healthcare maintenance environment – desirable. • 🔌 Good knowledge of electrical systems and associated building services. • 📘 City & Guilds Inspection & Testing qualification – desirable. • 🔐 Previous Competent Person or Authorised Person experience – desirable. • ⚡ Experience with Low Voltage electrical systems – desirable. • 🔌 Previous High Voltage experience and Authorised Person responsibilities – advantageous. • 📚 GCSE/O Level Maths and English, or equivalent. • 🦺 Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements within an engineering and maintenance environment. • 📑 Understanding of RAMS, risk assessments, permits and safe systems of work. • 💻 Ability to accurately complete electronic maintenance records and CAFM documentation. • 🗣️ Good verbal and written communication skills. • 🤝 Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. • 🧠 Proactive approach to fault finding and problem solving. • 👤 Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • 👥
