Claims Handler Motor Claims / Accident Management £25,000–£30,000 Smethwick, West Midlands | Office based | Monday to Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm Company Overview Our client manages non-fault road traffic accident claims, coordinating vehicle recovery, replacement hire and repairs. As the business grows, it needs a Claims Handler who can take ownership of files and help bring claims to a timely settlement. This is a small, hands-on team where the successful candidate will work closely with the directors and have a clear view of each claim from setup through to cost recovery. Job Overview As a Claims Handler, you will manage a caseload of non-fault motor claims, keeping customers and third parties informed while progressing each file. Success means spotting what needs to happen next, resolving delays and recovering costs efficiently. Key Responsibilities Set up and manage claims files following initial assessment. Obtain insurance details and issue letters of claim. Instruct engineers, obtain damage reports and coordinate with repair centres. Liaise with replacement vehicle hire providers and monitor off-hire dates. Communicate with customers, third-party insurers and other parties throughout the claim. Chase outstanding information and keep files progressing. Negotiate cost recovery and work towards settlement. Maintain accurate file notes and provide clear written updates. Work with colleagues to resolve issues and improve the claims process. Person Specification Experience in motor claims handling, accident management or a closely related role. An understanding of non-fault road traffic claims, vehicle hire, repairs and cost recovery. Confidence dealing with insurers, repairers, hire providers and customers. Experience progressing claims through several stages; negotiation or settlement experience would be valuable. Clear written and verbal communication, with strong organisation and follow-up skills. Sound judgement, a practical approach to problem-solving and a willingness to support colleagues.
