Teaching Assistant - SEMH Primary Setting - Dunstable Dunstable, Bedfordshire | Full-time | Monday-Friday | 8:30am-3:30pm | ASAP Start Do you have the patience and resilience to support children who may find mainstream education challenging? We are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work within a primary school in the Dunstable area, supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding role for someone who wants to make a positive difference and help pupils develop the skills and confidence they need to progress. What You'll Be Doing You will work as part of the school's support team, helping pupils both academically and emotionally. Your day may include: Supporting children during lessons and activities. Helping pupils remain engaged with their learning. Providing one-to-one or small-group support. Encouraging positive choices and behaviour. Helping children regulate their emotions. Providing a calm and consistent adult presence. Supporting pupils through challenging or difficult moments. Building trusting relationships with children. Encouraging independence, confidence and resilience. Working closely with teachers and other school staff. Who Would Suit This Role? You do not necessarily need previous SEMH experience. Experience within education, SEN, care, youth work, sports, residential settings or other child-focused environments would be useful, but the school is particularly interested in finding someone with the right attitude and genuine desire to work with SEMH pupils. You should be: Patient and compassionate. Calm when faced with challenging situations. Resilient and emotionally consistent. Confident communicating with children and adults. Able to build positive professional relationships. Reliable and dependable. Comfortable maintaining clear boundaries. Open to learning and developing your skills. Committed to safeguarding and the welfare of children. You must be safeguarding literate and willing to complete all required vetting and pre-employment checks.
