We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering business based near Ipswich for an experienced Engineering Procurement Manager. This is a varied, hands-on role combining procurement with the day-to-day management of an engineering stores. You will be responsible for sourcing materials, parts and equipment, managing suppliers and stock levels, whilst also overseeing the stores operation and supporting the stores team. The role will suit someone with a strong procurement or purchasing background, ideally gained within an engineering, manufacturing or technical environment, who enjoys a role that combines procurement with practical, operational involvement. The Role As Engineering Procurement Manager, you will take ownership of the purchasing function, develop effective supplier relationships and ensure the business has the materials and parts required to support its ongoing operations and projects. Your responsibilities will include: * Managing the day-to-day procurement of engineering materials, components and parts * Sourcing products and obtaining competitive pricing from suppliers * Negotiating pricing, delivery timescales and commercial terms * Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships * Monitoring supplier performance and addressing purchasing or delivery issues * Reviewing stock levels and forecasting future requirements * Placing purchase orders and ensuring materials are delivered when required * Working closely with engineers and department managers to understand material requirements * Overseeing the day-to-day running of the engineering stores * Managing and supporting stores personnel * Being hands-on with stock control, organisation and allocation of parts and materials About You We are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager, Buyer, Purchasing Manager or Senior Buyer who is comfortable taking responsibility for the full purchasing process and getting involved in the operational side of the stores. You will ideally have: * Proven experience in procurement or purchasing within an engineering or technical environment * Experience sourcing materials, components or parts * Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills * Experience monitoring stock levels and forecasting requirements * Excellent organisational and planning skills * A practical, hands-on approach * The ability to work independently and use your own initiative * Strong communication and IT skills * A full UK driving licence * MCIPS What's on Offer? * £40,000 - £45,000 salary, depending on experience * Fully expensed company car * Laptop and mobile phone * Company pension scheme This is a great opportunity for an experienced procurement professional looking for a varied role combining purchasing, supplier management, stock control and hands-on stores management within an established engineering business
