Software Engineer - Java

Spencer Rose are seeking an experienced Software Engineer (Java) to join a Tier-1 banking client in Manchester on an initial 6 month contract.

Start: ASAP - interviews are taking place within 2 working days

Location - Manchester - 2 days a week must be in the office

Rate: £(Apply online only)pd Inside IR35

Duration: 6months +

You will work within an agile, cross-functional team to build and maintain secure, scalable applications, leveraging modern Java engineering, cloud technologies, data engineering and quality automation.

Software Engineer - Java Key Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 11+, Spring and Spring Boot 3.x.
• Experience developing microservices, REST APIs, Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of data modelling, data analysis and dbt.
• Cloud experience across AWS, GCP or Azure, ideally including GKE.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Jenkins, IAM and API gateways such as Apigee.
• Experience with Python, Pytest, API automation and ETL testing.
• Strong understanding of TDD, BDD, shift-left testing, unit, integration and regression testing.
• Familiarity with security and performance testing, and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana and Prometheus.
• Experience with Jira, Xray and Allure Reports.
• Banking or financial services experience is highly desirable.

Software Engineer - Java Desirable Skills

Experience with Harness, Backstage golden paths, One IDP and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
